I think I may be the only person on the face of the earth that is not into Twilight. I don't hate it, but I just can't seem to get into it. I think, for me at least, that it might be a case in the book making a better movie. I can see it as a great movie. Like, P.S., I Love You for instance, I greatly disliked the book, it was just so boring! But I loved the movie, hell I bought it the first day it was released on DVD because I wanted to watch it again so badly. (And not just because of Gerard Butler, I swear. :p)
I'm not quite sure what it is about the book I don't like, I do like Edward though, he is very intriguing. Perhaps I ruined it with all the "hype" I stumbled upon on the web, I don't know. I find the writing a little boring, the story doesn't feel all that exciting, perhaps because I already knew Edward's secret before I started reading it. I just have no crazy desire to read it. While wandering through blogs I have read about people reading a book of the series a day. I find that maddening, because here I am only on page 236 after having it for like a week, or a little over a week.
I'm not giving up on it though, I decided to try my best to read the whole book, and it's not boring me out of my mind so I think I can finish it.

You're not alone. I have a like/hate relationship with them. My inner teen breezed through the first few books (skipping half of the text), and so I understand why teens would like them, but my adult self was pretty disgusted with the publisher for letting these books, in their apparently unedited condition, into the public in the first place. If it weren't for the hype (well done, marketing team), I'd find them pretty forgettable. And I am appalled that Meyer's series is being compared with Harry Potter left and right; Meyer's books are nowhere near as satisfying or complex.
Oh, and I meant to add: I don't think the movie is going to be worth seeing if you're not a die-hard fan. I've only seen trailers and already the dialogue makes me cringe (which is unfortunate, because I really like the actors playing the leads).
