The Scene Represented Margarita's Garden.

In and around Loch Chon, they would talk for many years of how the fair Lady of Lockhart laughed like a mad-woman when her husband hanged her lover - on the very eve of her date with the executioner's ax. "Thank you," said the priest, shivering in every limb as though he had just come out of ice-cold water. He had lost hood, cloak, food, pony, his buttons and his friends. 'She is fond of me!' sighed the young man. Jonathan bent down and kissed her.
